DEEP DISH DUNGEONTHE INDEPENDENT GUIDE

Find the Hammer & break rusty bars

The sewer route, the right tool, and the bars it cannot open.

Deep Dish Dungeon · Full-release guide · Sources reviewed 20 October 2026
The short answer

Use the Hammer on rusty fences. A War Hammer is a different item, and fixed prison bars or locked doors are not automatically breakable.

Your route at a glance

  1. Main hall rope hook
  2. Sewer water controls
  3. Raised-water crossing
  4. Overhead pipes
  5. Hammer / rusty fence

Progression schematic, not a geographic map. Detailed steps and version limits below.

Navigate the sewer approach

Start at the main hall and its upper rope hook. Bring rope, light and food. The detailed pipe approach below was documented by Demo players; compare the landmarks with your current version.

  1. Descend into the sewers and locate the water-control wheels.
  2. For the crossing to the far ledge, raise the water so you can swim across. Do not assume every section should stay drained.
  3. From that ledge, climb onto the overhead pipes.
  4. Crouch through the low section and use a crouched jump where the pipe rises. Follow the route around the fence to the Hammer.
  5. Equip the Hammer and open the rusty fence on your way back.

If the bars will not break

Check the obstacle and the item name before spending more time hitting it. A key-operated door still needs its key. The Hammer route takes you around the barrier first; it does not require reaching through the bars.

Other obstacles have other answers: webs use a torch, roots use an Axe, and goo uses a Pickaxe.

The sewer pickup is reported in full-release coverage. The detailed water-and-pipe directions come from March Demo player reports, not a verified current-build solo playthrough. If the layout differs, use the linked route evidence rather than assuming a missing step.
